Dr. Maria Cristina D. Cornelio
Pediatrician / BFLM Physician / Educator / Public Health Advocate
President
Dr. Cornelio is a Pediatrician and BFLM Physician with expertise in hospital-based lactation programs, public health advocacy, policy development, and lactation education. She currently serves as President of the Philippine Society of Breastfeeding & Lactation Medicine (PSBLM) and has been a key lead in both national and international breastfeeding initiatives.
She is a Fellow of both the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine (FABM) and the Philippine Pediatric Society (FPPS), a re-certified IBCLC, and holds an MD from De La Salle University. Currently pursuing an MBA in Health at Ateneo Graduate School, she brings both clinical excellence and strategic vision to the field.
Dr. Cornelio spearheaded Asia’s first BFLM Fellowship Program and continues to drive innovations in lactation care across institutions and inter professional organizations.

Dr. Diane S. Fabellon

Dr. Diane Fabellon is a pediatrician and International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant with extensive experience in clinical care, breastfeeding advocacy, and medical education. She serves as a consultant and Head of the Mother-Baby Friendly Care Group at The Medical City, and previous Co-Chair of the Philippine Pediatric Society’s SubCommittee on Breastfeeding.
A former Chief Resident of Institute of Pediatrics , Dr. Fabellon is also Clinical Faculty at the Ateneo School of Medicine and Chief Learning Officer of MED Academy. Her work focuses on strengthening pediatric systems and advancing maternal-infant health through evidence-based care and training.

Dr. Jamie Carmina I. Cumpas

Dr. Jamie Isip Cumpas is a pediatrician and Breastfeeding and Lactation Medicine (BFLM) physician with a strong focus on integrating evidence-based lactation care into pediatric and maternal health practice. She earned her medical degree from the University of Santo Tomas and completed her pediatric residency at The Medical City, where she now serves as the Training Officer for the Philippines’ first Breastfeeding and Lactation Medicine Fellowship Program. She is an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), having trained at both Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center and The Medical City.
Dr. Cumpas holds leadership roles in national medical societies, including previous Chair of the Breastfeeding Committee of the Philippine Pediatric Society. She is a founding officer of the Philippine Society of Breastfeeding and Lactation Medicine (PSBLM) and helped launch the first Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine (ABM) “What Every Physician Needs To Know About Breastfeeding” workshop in Manila.
She actively contributes to curriculum development and professional training, collaborating with institutions such as the Association of Deans of the Philippine Colleges of Nursing and the Department of Health. She also co-founded Create Health and serves on the Smart Parenting Board of Experts as a lactation consultant--- continuing to champion breastfeeding support and education nationwide.
Dr. Ma. Cristina S. Tuazon

Dr. Ma. Cristina S. Tuazon is a pediatrician at The Medical City, serving as Head of both the Human Milk Bank and Clinical Services (1). She is the institute’s assistant training officer (administrative), a member of its Executive Committee, and actively involved in institutional pediatric and breastfeeding initiatives. From 2012 to 2024, she served as co-chair of the Philippine Pediatric Society’s Breastfeeding Committee. A diplomate of the Philippine Pediatric Society, Dr. Tuazon, a graduate from UERMMMC and UP Diliman, holds specialized training in lactation management, and human milk banking.

Dr. Catherine M. Opida-De Leon

Dr. Catherine De Leon is a pediatrician and International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant with extensive clinical and teaching experience in both local and international settings. A Fellow of the Philippine Pediatric Society, she has served in key roles at The Medical City and Sabah Maternity Hospital, where she provided specialized breastfeeding support and helped train healthcare workers in WHO/UNICEF protocols.
As former Assistant Director of BirthKuwait’s Breastfeeding Support Program, Dr. De Leon played a pivotal role in building one of the region’s first IBLCE-recognized community counseling teams. She currently serves as facilitator of BirthKuwait’s Breastfeeding Counseling Course and mentors newly trained breastfeeding counselors in enhancing their skills. She remains an active educator and advocate, committed to advancing maternal and child health through compassionate, evidence-based care.
